Part 1. Overview


Configuration
1. Screen Movement You can move the screen by holding down the mouse wheel or right-clicking and moving it.

2. Zoom In/Out You can zoom in and out by rolling the mouse wheel.

3. Rotation You can rotate in the 3D window by holding down the left mouse button and moving it

4. Keyboard Number Key You can control the view using the keyboard number keys.

Part2. 2D, 3D Tool
1. Selection Tool
You can choose Selection Tool as your preference. Each tool provides a unique way to select elements such as patterns, points, or lines within the workspace:

- Select Include Rectangle
- Select Intersect Rectangle
- Select Intersect Line
2. Curve Tool, Shape Tool
You can create any 2D pattern using the Curve tool, Rectangle tool, and Circle tool.

- Curve

- Rectangle & Circle
It can be used in the same way as the Adobe Illustrator pen tool, so you can draw patterns as if you were drawing on a canvas. Click and drag without releasing your hand to draw a curve. If you want to draw a straight line, you can draw a horizontal line, a vertical line, or a 45-degree diagonal line with the Shift key.

You can create any shapes by clicking and dragging them in the 2D window. If you want exact figures, click on an empty space in the 2D window and a pop-up window will appear. Enter the desired figures for width and height and click OK to create a shape of that size..

If you want to create a shape with the same ratio (width x height), Click and drag the shape while holding down the Shift key..
3. Sewing Tool
Sewing is a function for sewing segments with a ratio of 1:1 that starts and ends with a point. We provide two options, Sewing and Multi-Sewing. ※ You must press Enter at an end point to connect the sewing segment to the next one to be sewn together

- Sewing Group: Sewing group made up of multiple sewing segments created by multi-sewing
- Sewing Segment: Sewing segment between the starting and ending points
- Sewing Starting Point: Starting point of a sewing segment
- Sewing Ending Point: Ending point of a sewing segment
- Sewing Line: Sewing line between a sewing group when creating or selecting a sewing

4. Pattern Drawing


Use the Curve (Q) tool on the 2D Action Toolbar to draw a pattern like the image on the left.


Select Pattern (A) from the 2D Selection Toolbar. Copy the pattern (Ctrl+C) and paste it on the right (Ctrl+V).

Hover your mouse over the copied pattern and right-click. In the pop-up window, click [Flip] - [Flip Horizontal] to flip the pattern.


Select point (D) in the 2D Selection Toolbar. Modify the back neck point of the back pattern.


Select the line (S) from the 2D Selection Toolbar. Select the back neckline and move the handle to modify the neck line.


Select Pattern (A) from the selection toolbar. Hover the mouse over the front pattern and right-click. In the pop-up window, click [Mirror] to create a symmetrical pattern. You can also select the front pattern and press [Ctrl + E] to create a symmetrical pattern.
Likewise, repeat the same for the back.

5. 3D Pattern Arrangement

After selecting the front panel pattern in the 3D window, use the Move Gizmo (W) to place it in front of the avatar.

After selecting the back pattern, use the Rotate Gizmo (R) to rotate the back pattern. Then use the Move Gizmo (W) to place the back pattern behind the avatar.
6. Sewing


Select the Sewing (C) tool from the 2D Action Toolbar to sew the side line, shoulder line, front center, and back center.
※ The direction of the sewing line notch is the same

7. Simulation (space bar)

Reset (Shift + Space) - Reset the simulation to return to its original pattern placement state. Step (Ctrl + Space) - Step through each simulation process

8. Pattern Editing


Adjust the length of the dress by selecting the bottom of the dress with the line (S) tool.



Select the Split Line (I) tool from the Run Toolbar to add waist and hip points to the front sideline. (The other side is automatically created with the symmetry function.) Repeat the same for the back side.
Likewise, repeat the same for the back.


Using the line (S) tool, slightly move the waist point inward and slightly move the hip point outward.
Likewise, repeat the same for the back.

Right-click on the line between the waist point and the hip point and click [Straight Line] in the pop-up window. Move the handle on the line to adjust it to the desired curve. Likewise, repeat the same for the back.

9. Dart
- Dart 1


Select the Hole (H) tool from the 2D Action Toolbar to draw a dart on the front panel. (The other side is automatically created with the symmetry function)
Sew the dart with the Sewing (C) tool.

- Dart 2


Draw a dart on the back using the Curve (Q) tool.
Select the back dart with the Line (S) tool, right-click, and select [Scissor] from the pop-up window. Select the cut pattern with the Pattern (A) tool, right-click the mouse, and delete it in the pop-up window or press the [Delete] key. (Repeat on the other side.)

Sew the dart with the Sewing (C) tool.
10. Add Pattern
Select the Rectangle (M) tool from the 2D Action toolbar. Use the Rectangle tool to add a pocket pattern to the front chest. Make a copy of the pocket pattern on the side.

Select the pocket pattern on the front panel with the Line (S) tool and right-click on it. In the pop-up window, click [Make Inner].


Sew the inner line of the front pocket and the copied pocket pattern using the sewing (C) tool.

- Frill
Using the square (M) tool, add two frill patterns that are longer than the circumference of the bottom of the one-piece dress.

Sew the frill pattern and hem of the one-piece dress using the Multi Sewing (V) tool..

Use the gizmo to place the frill pattern on the front and back of the avatar.

Part 3. Design a Skirt
1. Import a sample DXF file

Import a DXF file by selecting File - Import – DXF. (or you can drag & drop the file into the 2D window
2. Place the pattern on top of the 2D view avatar.

3. Organizing Pattern & Dart

Select the inner dart line with the Line (S) tool, then right-click and select Scissor from the pop-up window. Delete the separated dart pattern.

Cut the center line of the waistband and delete the pattern on the opposite side.

4. Sewing

After sewing the organized half pattern, make a mirror copy of the pattern (ctrl+E).


Merge the patterns of the front center of the skirt and the front center of the waistband.

Sew the center back of the skirt. Sew the seams so that the sewing directions face each other.
5. Place patterns on the avatar in 3D view

After completing the sewing, adjust the position of the pattern on the 2D window avatar, then right-click the mouse and select 3D Placement -> Front/Back to place it on the 3D view avatar. After placing it on the 3D window, rearrange the pattern back to its original position in the 2D window.

For the waistband, adjust the transformation parameters to place the pattern so that it can be wrapped around the avatar's waist. If you want to transform horizontally, adjust the X-axis value. After transforming the pattern, use the move gizmo (W) to place the waistband appropriately.
6. Fold the back line

Select the internal line segment of the pattern you want to fold, and check the [Properties - Internal Line Properties - Fold in 3D View] option. Adjust the angle to fold the pattern in the desired direction.
7. Simulation (space bar)

8. Add Fabric


You can choose any fabric from the Fabric > Preset list and apply it to the finished garment.
If you want to change it to any color other than white, right-click on the desired Preset item and click Duplicate. The duplicated fabric will be moved to the Custom folder.
9. Fabric Properties

Depending on the fabric you change, the fabric properties will also change. Change the fabric properties by selecting similar properties from the presets provided
10. Draping Board

After finishing making the costume, if you want to save the simulation state, click the Add button in the simulation tab on the right to save the draping board item.
11. Change Design

You can easily change 2D patterns into the desired shape using the line, point (S) tools in the 2D selection toolbar. By changing the pattern and applying fabric and material properties to fit the design, you can create various skirt designs.

12. Save a Design File

Click File > Save (Ctrl+S) to save the working file. The file is saved as ‘.zls' in z-weave.
Part4. Avatar
z-weave provides a variety of avatar styles, poses, and options for changing the body size.

Avatar types are provided in three types: male, female, and infant. Textures are provided in two types: an avatar with skin texture and a plastic mannequin avatar.
After selecting the avatar, you can change the avatar's color, specularity, roughness, metallicity, etc. as desired through the avatar material properties.


You can specify the initial and end pose simulation. When selecting a pose from the pose library, the initial pose will be changed, and the final pose must be set from the list.

You can change the size of the avatar.
z-weave provides Missy, Petite S, M, L based on the international standard.
In addition, if you have a specific size you want, you can freely change the size of the avatar. If you know the exact measurements, you can enter the measurements in cm. You can also change the avatar body shape based on the ratio.


You can change your avatar style with accessories of your choice, such as top, bottom, socks, shoes, and hair.
You can change each accessory to the color you want by pressing the color area on the right.
You can also change the physical properties of your avatar.
Friction - The amount of friction between your avatar and the fabric. Animation Speed - The speed at which your avatar moves from its initial to the end pose. Thickness - Width of the space between your avatar and the fabric.

Part5. Design a T-Shirt
1. Import a sample DXF file

Import a DXF file by selecting File - Import – DXF. (or you can drag & drop the file into the 2D window)
2. Place the pattern on top of the 2D view avatar.

3. Sewing

After sewing the half pattern, copy the sleeve pattern symmetrically (ctrl+E). Sew the opposite sleeve to the front and back armholes.

4. Place patterns on the avatar in 3D view

After completing the sewing, adjust the position of the pattern on the 2D view avatar, then right-click and select ‘Locate in 3D – Front’ from the pop-up window to place it on the 3D view avatar.

Select the back pattern and place it in 3D - select the back and adjust it with the gizmo to place it on the 3D window avatar. After placing it in the 3D view, rearrange the pattern back to its original state in the 2D view.

Place the sleeves on the avatar using Quick Move (Shift+Q). As shown in the first picture, click the blue dots on the sleeve (pattern) once up and once down. Next, click the orange dots on the avatar arm where the sleeve will be placed once up and once down. Do the same for the other sleeve.
5. Deform Parameters

In the case of sleeves, since they wrap around the arms, adjust the transformation parameters to place the pattern so that it can be placed in a wrapped manner. If you want to transform horizontally, adjust the X-axis value. After transforming the pattern, use the move gizmo to place the pattern appropriately.

8. Add Fabric
